Opening a bank account in Spain is as easy as it is in other countries. What you have to do is choose the entity that best suits your needs and go to one of their offices with your documents.
But what documents do I need?
If you have already processed your residence and you have already been assigned your NIE number, you will have to go to the branch of the bank of your choice with your passport and your NIE (or TIE if you are from a country outside the EU).
But what if I still don’t have a NIE?
Well, in this case you will have to open a “non-resident” account. For this type of account, the necessary documents will be your passport and a non-resident certificate.
This certificate can be obtained at any National Police station (if you are in the Spanish territory) or at the Spanish embassy or consulate if you are abroad.
Residents bank accounts tend to have better conditions than the non-resident ones. But you can always make the change when you obtain your residence certificate.
